We have been learning to play traffic light at maths time.
Traffic light is a game where you guess the number using thousands, hundreds, tens and ones. It is all about PLACE VALUE!
You have four columns - Thousands, Hundreds, Tens and Ones.
The teacher or a student secretly picks a four digit number. E.G. 2468
The class takes guesses to work out what the number is. You have to say a four digit number guessing the numbers but keep track of which numbers can go where.
If the teacher puts a red circle around the number it means - wrong number, wrong place.
If the teacher puts an orange (or blue) circle around the number it means - right number, wrong place.
If the teacher puts a green circle around the number it means - right number, right place.
It helps us learn our place value, and helps us read and write numbers.
P.S. We need to get an orange whiteboard pen so it looks more like a traffic light!!!!
Tune in again next week for "Rocket"... Followed by "Three in a Row".
